So I'm gonna do this just cause now.:) I'll run 1 injector per port for a true SEFI. Maybe 2 or 4 injectors at the throttle body for when I boost. Depends if it's needed or not. 1 coil per cylinder as well. I can't remember if the AEM box has 5 coil outputs or more... So possibly wasted spark, hopefully a single fire though. I'll have to check into it again. Another Motec trigger wheel/Cherry Hall effect sensor and 5.0L cam sync sensor. That combo works great on my other AEM project. The hardest part of this swap is the fuel system. I want a sustained 40-45psi. I'd prefer a fuel cell, but I can't find one to fit properly. This could be fun.. Until the little engine blows up. hahaha.;D

I'd love to see you get this done..although were it me I'd want the much stouter bottom end of the 7-main 200.

Oh..and a turbo is a must too. ;D

Disclaimer: From a nut who has built a multi-port EFI, Powerdyne- supercharged flathead V-8...for an EB project. %)

i think the 300 six (Ford 1/2 ton) was fuel injected in the later part of the 80's but i don't think there is a lot of crossover parts to the small six??? go with a 300 and get the bonus of all that torque ;)

But my truck came with the 170:) WHEN it blows up, I'll figure something out. Maybe a 200... Maybe a 300... Maybe my 608HP 441cid BBF/ZF combo. Who knows?:)

A little update: Just finished moving. I have myself a nice garage to work in now. The EB project should start moving along nicely.

I ditched the Honda AEM unit for a 30-1400 Mustang box. I'm more familiar with it and the guy threw in a dual channel wideband controller.:) Will make tuning a lot easier.:)

I picked up an Aeromotive weld in fuel tank sump. My tank is in decent shape, so it's worth modifying a bit. I'm gonna go with an external fuel pump for the ease of it. I love my Aeromotive pump on my ranger, but it's crazy overkill for a 170. Does leave room for future upgrades though. ;)

I need to find that link where someone milled off the intake of their 170 and fabbed a custom intake. Anyone know the one I'm talking about?

I've seen plenty where they milled the top to attach a 2barrel carb. I've got a 67 stang and all that is lacking to drive it is a carb that fits. I made my own adapter and darn it the hood won't close. It starts though. lol

I found fordsix after making the adapter on my own (blindly). Gonna have to suck it up and remove the cylinder head and get it milled.

The pictures/writeup I saw was where someone completely milled off the intake and made a flange to bolt on an aftermarket/custom intake. Was pretty neat. I haven't been able to find it since.

I've seen a couple over on fordsix.com, but never seen none actually finished and working. The ones I seen where similar to fabbing your own headers.

Well, I have the Aeroquip socketless hose in the mail for plumbing the fuel system. I have an aeromotive reg and a walbro 255lph pump. My buddy has an aluminum crossflow head in the mail for me as well. Should be interesting.:)

Is the Aeromotive pump loud and where did you get it from? I have an external pump on my EFI and it squeals like crazy. I'm hoping it gets a little quieter after I get everything done.

I like the Holley Pro-jection systems. Its a TBI system that sits right where your carb used to be. They have a small version for 6 cyl engines. It is self contained, super easy to install and reasonably cheap on ebay.

The aeromotive pump is loud... That's why they have rubber isolators as a mounting kit and a fuel pump controller to slow it down when you're not into the throttle. It's made for performance. I have one in my Ranger and you can hear it all the time. I'm going with a quieter pump for the EB cause it just won't need as much fuel delivery as my big block.

For a cheap easy kit, by all means go TBI. Just isn't for me. I need SEFI or I don't see the advantage over a good tuned carb. There may be one, just for me to justify any money, it has to have a noticeable/quantifiable difference.
