Anyone use anything like this to convert the factory tank to an in tank efi fuel pump?

In Tank Conversion

Is there enough head space on top of the tank to run something like that? I would measure to find out but due to the current situation, I am not able to get to it. Just trying to accumulate as much stuff for my EFI Conversion as possible before I get it home.

I don't have an answer for you on the stock tank and in tank pump but I seem to recall some doing it. Think the way is to cut an access hole in the bed.

Why not just run an external pump like an E2000 with the stock tank. I've been running external now for 3 years with no issues. I've ran the tank down to about as low as you would want to run it with or without EFI and had no issues

Do you run dual tanks? I thought about doing that. I have dual tanks, so if I went that route, I would convert the side tank to store only, then use a transfer pump to move fuel to the rear tank. My son has an LS swapped Wagoneer and he runs that type of setup.

I am still using my 20+ year old TBP poly rear tank. It's only like 13.5 gallon which sucks but absolutely no rust concerns, lol.

I was considering that company that custom builds each tank.
Can't remember their name at the moment but I have heard the fellers here say that these tanks aren't pretty but are tough.
They will make you ...say....a 19 gallon tank to get a little more clearance but still increase capacity well over stock allowing you to ditch the aux tank.
Again these are apparently rough looking but are inexpensive and solid....and customizable as said.

Such a treat to get rid of the whole dual tank thing but still have good capacity with a single tank that doesn't give up ground clearance.

Just a thought.....

http://www.aerotanks.com/ Maybe? If I did a custom tank I would go with them. They can make any size you ask.

Yea...that's them Tim.

It will be awhile before I make that upgrade...I mean my TBP poly tank is only like 23 years old....lol.

Totally agree...a custom tank from them with clearance built into the top for hose and fitting clearance and the bottom a little shorter for better ground clearance which would decrease their regular 23 gallon capacity a little bit (19 gallon?) but that's fine with me.
Good stuff right there Hoss.

That was my plan to get an Aero but he external pump has worked so well I just can't justify the expense to upgrade.

Having multiple toys means you have to divvy up the money and time to all of them.

Wildhorses uses this for some of their tanks.

How much head space is there with no body lift? I cannot get to my Bronco to do any measuring currently.

I have no idea how much clearance there would be.

I can confirm that the top of the Holley pump will need about 1-1/4" to 1-3/8" of room from the top of the tank. I'm not sure how much the gasket will compress, so that dimension could be a little less, but I would plan on 1-3/8" as being the bare minimum that you'll need.

Thanks for that info. Hoping someone chimes in with how much headspace is above the factory tank with no body lift. Its killing me not having my truck here so I could just freakin measure it myself.
