Just picked up my 96 explorer from the machine shop. Cylinders honed with stock pistons with new rings. Gt40 heads reworked. I was thinking about using a comp cam xe264. I dont have alot of experience building engines and I would like suggestions and advice please. I'm running a 302 with ax15 and 33 inch tires now.

#1 I would like this motor to have a little thump to it since I have it apart.
#2 Can I set this engine up to run with a carb and mechanical fuel pump while I decide if I want to go efi? If so which timing chain cover should I use?
#3 Can I run the explorer serp and do the mechanical fuel pump?
#4 What is the best for the money radiator for this new engine?
#5 Please add anything that you guys think I missed.

#2 yes, but the mechanical fuel pump part will require a lot of parts to make work. see #3
#3 No, you cannot run a mechanical fuel pump with an explorer accessory drive. You would have to convert to an old accessory drive. Not sure what parts you have access to. Typically those from the old Bronco engine. Even then not all of them will work. The harmonic damper will have the wrong balance correction. You would be buying an aftermarket 50 oz-in damper just to run a mechanical furl pump. The wiser move would be to buy a Carter P4070 electric fuel pump and run that with the carb and keep the Explorer accessory drive.
1,4,5 I don't have good answers for.

easy fix to explorer no fuel pump on timing cover = carter electric fuel pump mounted on frame at tank outlet port.
