Engine Date Stamp Question

Howdy y'all,

Got a question. My '66 halfcab has a non-66 engine (stamp says it's from a '68 Maverick or Falcon). We bought a '66 Bronco motor from a guy down in Leesburg. Threw in a bunch of OE '66 parts too! ;D

I'm trying to restore my '66 to factory condition. Could anyone tell that the engine I'm putting in is not the original motor that came with the truck?

Thanks!

The data tag by the distributor has codes for the cubic inches, year, month, engine code and change level. If you know how to read it. The 66 Bronco engine has several differences from the 68 car engines.

Pretty sure Ford didn't start stamping the blocks with VIN numbers till 68. Usually the last five digits.
