Enjoying it

Well, since finally getting it running this summer, I have been driving my Bronco as a daily driver for about a month and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I keep getting asked why I'm driving it so much or why I am driving it in the rain. I built it to drive it and enjoy it. Definitely not a show truck, but it looks and runs pretty damn good.
The FiTech is running great, starts right away every time without issue. I think I still need to adjust the AFR a bit, but otherwise I love it. Power steering makes it a breeze to drive. Steers and drives straight down the road, even at speed (80mph is as fast I felt comfortable pushing it). Power disc brakes have been working great, although I think I need another proportioning valve as this one has a small leak. This will be the 3rd one. I rebuilt the three on the tree and I really enjoy driving it with it on the column. The Retrosound radio looks and sounds great. I built a temporary small speaker box, but for now it sounds great.
Next on the list is to quiet it down a bit. I plan on sound deadening the floors and top, then carpet and a headliner. As I am in the Pacific Northwest, I also need to upgrade my wipers and install an intermittent wiper switch. There are also some spots on the paint that need to be touched up, but nothing I need to address immediately.
The seven-year build has definitely been worth it. Every nut and bolt was touched. Doing the majority of work in my own garage (with the help of many friends) has been super rewarding, although super frustrating at times as well. I know its not done and never will be, but at least I can drive and enjoy it for now.
For those in the midst of a build with no or a dim light at the end of the tunnel, keep plugging away, it is worth it.

Will

Heck yeah, do it!

I mostly finished mine three months ago. Still no doors or painted hood yet. Been having too much fun driving it and less motivated to wrap up some of the final touches.

I get comments too - but mostly folks that think it’s awesome that I’m driving it and not just letting it sit. So have at it! I’m on about the 2-3 day a week plan but always bring a smile to my face when I take it out.

Enjoy!

Looks great! Some nice work there!

Mine was a seven year build too. It does feel good when you can start driving it. Like you, I'm still finishing up a few things. That will probably never stop.

Have fun! Park it when the road salt comes out, if they use that stuff in WA.

Bet your story has some folks headed back out to the garage to dust off their wrenches and carry on. Seven years is a long time, but the results look to be well worth the time and effort, it’s beautiful.....congrats and keep enjoying the drive!

Thanks all.

Very nice job enjoy it ,drive it just don’t think about the MPG. I try not to on my 77 EB

Fortunately my gas gauge and odometer are not accurate, so I haven't really checked MPG, but I would guess around 12. I plan on checking with a GPS here soo. I only have a 6 mile commute to work, so it is really not an issue.

Love that color! By the looks of the one picture it was seafoam green at one time?
That is another of my favorite colors besides your blue.

The original color was New Lime Green. A previous owner painted it yellow and also painted the interior that "seafoam" green. The green was put on with a brush, you could see brush strokes from front to back.

Built to be driven! Otherwise, really, what's the point? I always say I have this thing for 50% I love to work on and improve it and the other is to drive it around. Yours looks fantastic and I love that it's still not done, it never is...

Next on the list is to quiet it down a bit.

Hey I just quieted mine down Friday night!! lol exhaust pipe pretty much broke in half...the day after i made the 'patch' i saw my cheap (probably HF) ring compressor in the toolbox and thought what a perfect exhaust patch that would make!:)

Great story and even better ending Will. X2 on the Arcadian Blue, that's the original color on my 66, and I'm 99% sure that's what I'll go with for the eventually upcoming repaint (been waiting 2 1/2 years) thanks for the pep talk!

oh yeah my neighbor about a week ago said "man you drive that thing everywhere!! ?:??:? I'm like "Yep, wouldn't you?" ;D
