Just installed new Edelebrock intake and an Autolite 4100 carb. I currently have dual exhaust dumping out the sides just after the rear tires. Has some kind of turbo mufflers. Sounds decsnt but looking to get something louder, like Flowmaster 40's. Opinions on tubing size? it has 2" till the mufflers, expands to 2 1/4'' all the way to the tail pipe tips. Has a roller lifter 5.0 and c-4 with shift kit. Don't want to over kill but looking to squeeze what i can out of stock manifolds....thanks guys. Thoughts?

Loud is the enemy!

There were a few sets of long tubes on this site recently - pick up a pair of those and run 2.25" and you'll be screamin.

Usually the larger dia pipe the louder and dronier it gets. You also have to look at pipe dia vs airflow and how it relates to engine cfm/ci. Usually a small block ford sounds REAL nice with 2 chamber flows and 2.5 pipe. Use a crossover as well, helps take out alot of the interior drone. 2.25 would be more than enough for that engine, def do not go over 2.5 dia though, you'll loose torque for sure.

After researching this a lot, I chose 2 1/4" mandrel bent all the way from the headers to the exhaust tips. I ran these pipes in conjuntion with the Dynomax VT mufflers and I am very happy with the sound and performance. No drone and not too loud at cruise, but it really screams at WOT.

That video made it sound louder than it really is. Its surprisingly quiet and has a deep rumble like a newer mustang. Running long tubes with 2.5" pipe that exits out the back and long glasspacks. I want to put an H pipe in which should balance it out and quiet it a little further - then I'll get a video of it when the sound isn't bouncing off all of the buildings.

Randy, I have a set of Cherry Bomb turbo extreme's that if you'd like you could have. You could mock them up and at least hear how they sound on your rig if your trying to compare to some degree.

I went with 2 1/4 with Flowmaster 40's. It exits out behind the rear wheels. It sounds great! It has a nice rumble but not too loud.
