I’m prepping an Explorer 5.0 for my Bronco. It has the 90 oil filter cooler on it. When I removed the cooler I noticed the oil filter mount base on the block has an an adapter threaded in... do I unscrew the oil filter nipple from the oil cooler and reuse it (does it come out)? Or do I buy a new oil filter nipple?

Either way, what size hex wrench do I need for that? It’s larger than anything I have .

You can buy the nipple to allow you to use a regular filter. Part #F1AZ.6890.A I believe, then filter FL1A.

Well, I purchased F1AZ6890 A and it’s too small for the threaded hole in the block. Please advise ASAP

There are two different ones. I did this also. Take the old threaded one with you and match it up.

Summit racing's sells them as well. I bought mine there. Also you could take the one out of your old block

Btw... what’s the secret tool for installing this?

I just made a tool since I am only going to do this once.
I found a bolt head that fit the opening. put 2 nuts on it tightened together and then used a wrench to tighten the nipple.
