explorer c4 torque converter

ok so i have everything in order with rebuilt engine trans transfercase wirng harness ( thanks to efi guy ) and when installing trans the torque converter hits the flexplate too soon. after removing tc and matching height with old one i can see it's too tall. i'm using 96 explorer motor with 70 c4 does anyone have numbers of torque converters to look at? trans shop gave me a r46 converter thanks in advance

What flexplate and which C4 bellhousing are you using?

im using the 96 explorer auto trans flex plate with stock c4 pan fill trans. the torque converter the trans shop gave me is too tall when both old and new are on the bench by about 5/8 of an inch.
