Hello all,

I'm looking to get 300 rwhp from my efi 5.0

I was considering switching to a b303 among other things. Does anyone have a good combination to make this type of power to the wheels from a 5.0?

I'm using an nv3550, no ac...I'm not expecting too much driveline loss

Any suggestions for a good camshaft? looking for torque and power in the low rpms...

Heh, you sound just like me a little while ago. I don't think you are going to see that much HP . I did do a CAM Kit on my 97 5.0 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-k35-349-8/overview/ , This was a highly recommended CAM when I asked here back in the Summer. I just got my Bronco back from the install and I had the EEC flashed (thanks Garry). However my truck isn't running well at the moment. My mechanic thinks it is getting lean under load.

Good luck,

everythings stock 99 explorer heads and intake right now...

maybe leaving the motor stock will help me have less engine trouble. I wanted to go EFI for reliability lol

maybe its not doable without new heads and intake...I can see the costs mounting!

any ideas on this one? have a lead on one locally for 175

I've got a '96 explorer 5.0 with a e303 cam in it that I'm about to swap the stock explorer cam back into.

The guys on the norcal site really like the comp cams 35-308-8.

theres a guy locally selling a 35-413-8 model Im going to check out

I guess my focus should be on peak horsepower and torque at lowest rpm or at least useable rpm

My Cam of choice is the Comp Cam XE258HR-12. Very nice torque in 5.0l and better still in a 351w. I have had this Cam in 3 different builds.

I would also suggest the complete K-kit with the Cam. All correct matching parts included.

Lon L - I have had your Cam in a very nice 347. I installed straight up as the advance is built into the Cam. It ran extremely well. You will be very happy with it once the engine bugs are figured out.

Thanks for the info. Im sure it is going to resolved and running well soon. I pulled codes today and there were a few, however they all were do to the missing transmission harness. . I am kind of wishing I had just done a 351w instead of working on this one. Oh well, live and learn. I really wanted the Coyote, but I just can not justify the added cost to what will be a pretty pricey restoration. Maybe I can sell a Kidney or something :)

Why do you have codes relating to the missing trans harness? Is this not completed yet? Just curious.

Mark

Heh, I guess I left out that part . The Bronco is about to go from a Perfectly good NV3550 to a new/rebuilt 4r70W. The reason for that is I am doing this Bronco for myself and these days I just prefer Automatic.
