That is the P pump cover that Lee PS sent with the pump that I had them rebuild/upgrade for Snowball when I did the E-250 PS pump conversion with the H-B conversion.

Calling the Astro - C/K system a remote reservoir system meets the definition of what a "remote reservoir" is and does, but I can see the confusion that calling it that could create. Referring to it as a "surge tank system" also is correct and I think that is a good idea.
Interesting that the surge tank on the Astro's has a return on it. The C/K tanks do not and I was unaware of any that did have it. I'm quite sure that GM did it that way on the C/K's so that there would be only one return hose p/n regardless of the rest of the truck's configuration. Packaging on the Astro's must have pushed them off of that.

If the plastic 'integral reservoir" used on the CBR pump is held on with a tapered spring clip and you send one of those to Lee PS for a rebuild you can expect it to be returned fitted with a -10AN fitting where the reservoir used to connect to the pump. I was told that they don't rebuild them any other way.

Great definitions and write ups!

My only adds are all GM vans with HB have the return on the surge tank like the Astro that I'm aware of. I can't remember the years it started but the CBR pump has been available on duramax equipped GM trucks since the mid 2000's, is what my memory banks are telling me.

I really like P pumps/canned ham on everything except full hydro steering in anything that sees speed. with full hydro and speed it is possible to tag a front tire on a rock or other immovable object and cause enough pressure from rapid return to swell the can enough for it to evacuate the oil around the pump sealing the can to the pump, resulting in dead steering instantly until the can is replaced.
