Explorer PS with AC bracket pump options

I have Explorer front dress, I kept the PS / AC bracket because I would like to add AC . I have a Hydro boost kit I’m getting ready to install. I’m still running the stock Explorer PS pump. I’m worried it my not be up to the task.
Is there an upgraded pump option? . I see where I can go to a Saginaw/Delphi style pump but I have to get rid of bracket which would mount my future AC so I don’t want to change it.
What are my options?
I’m not even sure if the AC kits are using the Explorer front dress anyway, I haven’t gotten that far yet.
So find a upgraded pump for the Explorer or go with the Saginaw/Delphi style and figure out the AC later

The Explorer pump has it's limits... I would say once you move beyond a 32" tire or think about ram assist that you need to look at a Sag pump.

HB, generally needs pressure not volume, so a well working Explorer pump will do it, but the biggest tire I have used is a 285/17. There are companies that can boost it's performance that have been documented here in some threads. But given it's size, it can only put out so much. I am one to suggest the Sag unit at this point.

I have never researched the Sag pump bracket the WH's has with the Explorer dress, but there is a starting point. The factory Explorer AC/PS uses a Ford AC unit, most aftermarket AC units use a Sanborn style AC unit. (Seems to thought of as the better unit) I used the Ford compressor with components from BCB. Maybe Paul (Dirtdonk will chime in as he has my old rig) AC worked great, but I was unimpressed with the heater side of things. (That one had 31" tires)

Sorry I couldn't give you a simple answer, more stuff to chew on though.

I am using the Explorer pump (have 5.0), Explorer AC compressor, and Hydroboost with 30" tires with no issues. If I were to start from scratch I probably would have gone with the Wild Horses brackets and used the Sanden AC compressor and Saginaw pump just because the Sag pump's performance is unquestioned.

Thanks for the input guys. I went with a new bracket and WH duel return HD Delphi pump. I ways though the PS was a bit taxed with my 35s. So I should be stopping and turning good.

For what it's worth I have a stock Explorer pump, hydroboost and 35" tires. It's been working fine for 15+ years. No issues on or off road, though my rock crawling is limited to "moderate."

If the pump and power steering are happy now, adding hydroboost won't change anything.

there is athread here that talks about boosting output using superduty internals. always wanted to try it but haven't gotten around to it yet...

I run a junk yard ps pump from a mountaineer. A 5.0 motor from junkyard with150k miles. . Junk yard hydroboost from Astro van. And 35” tires. No issues for three years now and Ten thousand miles. And 3.50 gears.

That was me. But since what I had (junkyard OEM pump) was doing the job just fine, I literally couldn't tell the difference even though the modified pump provided measurably more flow and pressure.

37s, no hydo, stock exploder ps pump here. fine for years.
