Does anyone know where I can get a belt tensioner and a fan for my Explorer Serpentine setup? I don't mind buying new but can't find the parts to fit the 5.0 motor; everyone just has V6 parts.

Thanks in advance.

I bought a fan new from Ford a few years ago when I did my conversion. I know of an Exploder donor in a local yard that I could scrounge a fan/clutch from if interested. I have no idea on prices at this point though...

The fans are the same between the 5.0 and the 4.0's as far as tensioners go I'd get one from NAPA. I wouldn't trust a used one. I don't think they are expensive anyway.

The tensioner is under the Belt Drive category. What's nice is there are pics of most everything they sell, great for us junkyard hounds ;D

... I actually just scored on a complete sepentine setup. Am wondering if I should pack it away for future use or to swap it onto my carb'ed engine with an electric fuel pump.

i picked up my new tensioner from car quest, wasn't more than $20 if i remember. It was a better deal than taking the time and gambling on a junkyard unit.

Here is the info I got out of one of the other treads here:

Correct, the clutch is not interchangable. The fan is not interchangable. But as a whole assambly it is interchangable.

5.0 fan with 4.0 clutch = no
4.0 fan with 5.0 clutch = no
5.0 fan with 5.0 clutch = yes
4.0 fan with 4.0 clutch = yes

Outside diameter is the same
Mounting depth is the same
mounting threads are the same
Rotation is the same

Fan to clutch mounting pattern is different.

The fan and clutch I got used from a 4 litter at the pic and pull, the pulleys from NAPA and partsamerica.com

From Napa I got:
1. A/C pypass pulley # 660-1829
2. Power steering pulley # 7-3088

From partsamerica.com I ordered:
1. Goodyear Belt Tensioner Assembly # 49257
2. Goodyear Drive Belt Idler Pulley # 49021
3. Goodyear Drive Belt Idler Pulley # 49001

Parts america was cheaper then Napa.

Here are places I looked for the proper part #:

http://www.partsamerica.com/Vehicle...rttype=250&ptset=A&searchfor=Power+Brake+Unit

Thanks to everyone for the advice!

Weasel, if you're ever down this way, look me up for a free beer.

I'm going to order my parts today.
