My new family cage from Extreme Custom Fab shipped Friday. Any installation tips other than don't burn anything?

How do they fit around the wipers? I just re-engineered mine so the motor is the same height as the windshield and as close as it can get so hopefully it all works. I could almost care less about the glove box!

Did mine this weekend. We mocked it up with straps to hold everything together and then welded it up afterwards. I had the hard top on to mock it up and then took the top off to do some welding and to pull the cage to finish it up. I think you should not have any problems. If like mine you will need to notch some tubes but thats all. Good luck.

Happy to hear it went good. I am hoping to knock it out this weekend for Father's day! How did it fit around the wipers and do you have any pictures?

The 2x4 idea alone was worth the look! Brilliant! So you can do all the work with the top on? I hate the idea of putting it on/taking it off/ putting it on.

Well you will have to take the hard top off for final welding but all the mock up was done with the top on. Good luck.

I did this over the weekend. It took 5 hours start to finish tack welded working by myself! That included putting the top on and taking it off when done. All I need to do is take it out and finish weld it, paint and re-install. Really nice piece of work and I would recommend their kit to anyone. Even the bottom plates have nicely radiused corners and chamfered holes.

Having a helper would have saved about an hour. Also if they labeled the middle and rear hoops it would have saved about 30 minutes of putting them in and taking them out a few times to figure out which one was which. I was being overly careful to be sure I did not cut anything too soon!

I can open the glove box but I may need modify my parking brake. I am waiting to bolt it in for the last time before I see if it works or needs a modification.

Random follow up question - I fitted this tight against the hard top to maximize headroom. Will my soft top still fit???

The rig came with a new one in the boxes but I have never opened it up.

What top do you have?? Soft tops generally are taller than the hardtops. I don't think we will be needing our tops this weekend :) Unless you want to keep the sun off you.

I started a thread in the tech section on the soft top fit - but I have an STG top.

No top this weekend for sure! I am tidying up a few things before I can drive it - I really miss the rattle trap!
