I'm confused, you said you reengineered the bracket and now the issue is fixed? I'm not really sure who is at the bottom end of this one. If you did infact fix the issue then the better way to go about this would be to write a detailed review of this product highlighting it's successes and flaws to either help others or deter them from buying the product. I see a lot of bad press about BC and I'm going ot be up front and say I am not a big fan of them, however it seems to me that the issue has not been published or addressed correctly by the consumer or the supplier. You say this is a component of the vintage air kit from BC, is this in conjunction with some other serp kit? I honestly would have just ran an exploder or mustang serp and used the sanden compressor for my uses.

Bingo. I sure like that. ;)

"I've been fighting this POS for 6 month. I've broken 3 belts, 2 idlers, and now after an entire serpentine swap the POS bracket continues to bend like a pretzel. Apparently no matter how well you line it up as soon as you add belt tension it curls up like a soggy noodle. There is no way this thing is engineered to be under tension like this - not to mention the powder coating is crap and completely flaked off.
HOW THE F()&# IS THIS THING SUPPOSED TO WORK
I'd love to take it out and junk it but my brand new serpentine pulley refuses to come off the Saginaw pump and it's pretty well stuck. I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars and probably hundrds of hours now trying to get this thing to work in any fashion with no shortage of shims, spacers, mounts, stiffeners, you name it.
Does anyone have a solution to make this thing work or am I better off yanking it all out and cutting it up with a torch?"

When I first read your post it was obvious to me you were not looking to get this fixed. You provided no useful descriptions or pictures. But a number of statements that were obviously wrong like "soggy noodle" and "pretzel" to describe 1/4" plate. I can see belt misalignment causing belts to fray but not to damage idlers. I guess that my product being a POS can be your opinion but many seem to be very happy. I think you called a couple of times but when you stop calling I assume the problem is fixed. I can not see what the problem is from here or know if/when it is fixed.
I offered to refund your money because you were not happy with my product. I said "unless you damage it" powdercoating falling off is not damage to me. Modifying, cutting, drilling, grinding or welding is.
But now I see that after 8 mos. 3 belts, 2 idlers, hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hrs. that in only 12 hrs after your thread you fitted it all. All I can say now is I am glad it is fixed and you should have come here mos ago. And I would still like to see the pictures.

I would like to say that the bracket is awesome and is more than worth the $100 I spent on it:cool:. Fits perfect for me. I had the Lars bracket and couldn't make it work with 2 different saginaw pumps without heavy modification. I can't comment on the powder coat as I powder coated my bracket in a color of my choosing after i received it. Not sure why the OP is having issues unless there was a defect in the bracket.

Thank you. There may be a defect in the bracket, I can't tell from here. I will give him that the powder coating may have been bad. We have been having some trouble with the PC and this week started using a new place. The only problems we have had with the bracket is the used componets being diff. The water pump, water pump pulley, crank damper, crank pulley and alt. and or pulley may be diff from one 302 to the next but when you add into that the 9 diff. pulleys and at least 3 diff. pumps the chances of them all working are not good. So we add spacers for the pump and bracket to try to make them match up right but if the EB has ever had a diff damper or water pump or the pulleys changed we are back to the maybe it will fit zone. We have thought about only selling all the parts together just to be sure but the price would go up so much that no one would buy them... butwe wouldn't be having this problem either. An example of what I am talking about is I have never heard of a problem with the Lars bracket but you did. My guess is I had the right spacers to work with what you have.

Your multisteer bracket worked fine on my rig Chuck. Your staff even steered me toward the correct pulley for my application ( Lumina if I remember right ). I have been running mine for 6 mos now with no issues.

When we make modifications we need to be patient first with ourselves and our expectations from our equipment and our abilities. If we lose it on people who try to make these products for us they will go away and we won't have the options we do now and we will have to go back to figuring it out ourselves. In my earlier post I was not picking on the OP as much as commenting on society as a whole. I have been in customer service all of my working years and have observed this (to me) very disturbing trend. I wonder how people would feel if they were in the same boat. I have an aquaintence who is in the wood turning business and knows first hand of a tool company forced out of business because they were held liable for damages caused by a piece of equipment they made over 100 yrs ago that had no guards. My guess is if we had no internet most of us would not be nearly into EB's as we are because it would be too hard to find parts and get support/ideas for modifications. We need to appreciate what we have not get uptight at one thing that goes wrong.
