Yeah, 19 years is a long time but life comes at you and priorities change and distractions are everywhere (for me anyway)! I'm finally at a point where I felt comfortable adding something like this to my world. I'm a long time vehicle guy but I've always lived vicariously through others - mostly my dad who was great to introduce me to some very fun cars. I fell in love with the Bronco the very first time I saw one..
I had been poking around lately and this one just appeared in the local online classifieds. I made a very uncharacteristic decision to go for it after seeing it. Usually it takes me a lot of deliberation and then the opportunity passes (see 19 year wait).
So about the truck:
She is a 76 sport, 302/auto, limited slip rear, dual tanks and skidplates, and obviously uncut. The rest is as you'd expect from the spec sheet - nothing has been changed and while a few things have been replaced they are all the same as stock: springs, exhaust, and a few other minor items. The is no rust that I could find on the tub, and very minimal surface rust under the drip rails on the roof. The paint has been "freshened" but never resprayed. Biggest issues I can find? An almost invisible dent on the roof and some solid dings to the original body moldings. A few other minor items - a flasher that needs to be replaced and some tire carrier bushings that may or may not have fully disintegrated. I'm sure I'll find things and have lots of questions along the way!
I love the original-ness of the truck, that was a big draw for me. But there are a few things I'd like to add: cage & 3 point belts for the little person who rides with me, a soft top, and maybe AC because of the heat of the Utah summer. I promised myself I'd leave it alone for a while, but you all know as well as I do that it will be a hard promise to keep!
Here is another shot from our drive last night - more pics to come in the garage section.
