doing the disc brake swap and upgraded to the '76 f250 camper special m/c. how do i get the push rod to stay in place?

I had the same master and the pushrod did not snap in like the stock one. My experince was the rod was held in by the weight of the pedal. I drove it like this for several years be for I changed to h-boost.

Put the rod in the M/C, then hook it to the brake pedal. There is no possible way that the brake pedal can move backwards far enough for the rod to fall out.
