The hoops do not fold all the way down to the tailgate on my Kayline top. If the rear halo was about 4 inches towards the front they would lay down.

Is any mounting of shoulder belts to a roll cage DOT approved?

What clamps did you use? I would think if you can use them for hydro steering or clamp in roll cage parts they should be ok. If you get in a bad enough wreck anyways you are toast.

Nice color combo JAK. IRT the original post, I got the family four point cage from Toms. Pros: didn't have to modify the e-brake or glove box. Cons: no windshield support... but I have a plan for that.

Pros: our friends in the back got a great view of us being crushed.
Cons: the head injuries

The clamps were just something I came up with. Welded a tab to a 2" clamp you can buy from any fabrication parts dealer like Ruff Stuff. They have gotten a lot of attention. And no they are not DOT approved nor would I think the roll cage is.

Bailie gets my vote as well. I think it has the best lines on a bronco. The plus side is safety is superior as a bolt in product. The bar crossing the frame is what sold me on it. It is an easy drop in and go cage.

So it’s been a while since you have heard from me. Raising kids, day job, diagnosed with lung cancer, etc etc. If you are new to CB, you probably haven’t even heard of the Crab Cage. I just received a call from my fabricator, asking me if I thought there would be interest in a more high end custom Cage. Our original design was fairly simple though we did do several custom one off cages for customers that wanted more. The new Crab Cage will keep the basic design with improved lines, following the compound angles of the windshield and door frames. I’m posting here and will start a new thread asking for your input. What you like and don’t like about our Cage and others. We will be building a prototype in the near future and will post progress along the way. This will not be a mass produced Cage so the price point won’t be appealing to most. My long time friend Jason, is one of the best fabricators I’ve seen. He’s built several buggies over the years as well as custom truck builds with diesel conversions. He is teaming up with a very renowned hot rod chassis builder, so I’m excited to see what evolves.

How about running some of your old style family cages?

I don’t want to say too much until we have a prototype on the floor, but will be very similar to the original. Refinements will set it apart from the cookie cutter cages out there. A couple vendors have used some of our design ideas yet keep them fairly generic to keep the cost down. We’ve never considered this a career to pay the bills, which allows us to focus more on each custom build. More to come...

He lives! Thought about messaging you to see if you were still hard at it. Glad to see you back on here Rob. BTW . I am redoing my 75 right now and would be glad to test out that prototype. Need a cage for it. Just as well be yours.....

Any thoughts on an option for A pillars to run right against the A pilar and go behind the dash and the dash attaches to the cage? It really looks a lot better and eliminate glove box door and window crank space issues. Plus the dash being away from the firewall a little gives more room behind it for ease of working and or A/C installs and easier to reach the dash with shoulder belts on.

I have the broncobob family cage, it fits under the rampage soft top I have. It is tight but I wanted it that way, didn't want to hear it flapping in the wind.:p

Forgot to mention, we welded in some seatbelt tabs, extra gussets, and grab handles. Plus I did the glovebox mod that moves it over a little, and the bars run down along the pillar post just fine, came out great. ;)
