Feul gauge problems

First off I'm a newbie to the site, and maybe I'm in the wrong place. Forgive me.
Here is my problem though. I have a 72 Bronco that has been re-wired (Centech harness) but I'm having problems with my main feul tank registering on the guage. Sometimes it will, other times it wont. The spare tank works just fine.
Is it a problem in the wiring or is it the float in the tank? Or something completely different?

If the Centech is like the original wiring to the fuel tank...check to make sure that the ground wire is attached good. Mine was loose and it read sometimes and other times it said "E". I've also had my sending unit float inside the tank get to the point where it is gummed up or rusted and it won't move up and down smoothly and will get stuck and not read. Id try the ground first, and check all the wiring before I messed with the tank.

Man I hope its the ground wire. LOL I don't have to way with it all to mess with the tank just yet. But thanks for both responses.

Not to hijack but my main does the same thing. At first it did not read at all. but when I fixed my spare tank it started working on and off...It was kinda wierd but it seems to be doing the same thing as yours now

If you have a MAIN and AUX tank, you might want to try cleaning the switch that switchs the tank reading on the gauge. It might help. O'77

Thanks for the help. I think I've found the problem after looking atthis weekend. The ground is good, but the boot that connected it all was loose and dirty. I took a brush to the connectors and cleaned the plug.
I'll see how it works with a fresh tank. Thanks for the help again.
