FI Tech Fuel pump and relay

Hi All,

I bought a Go EFI and will be installing it soon. The instructions say that you don't need a relay for the Hi pressure pump, but does it make sense to put one in?

Also I have the inertia fuel cutoff switch installed. I will still need that with the Go EFI correct?

Thanks

I will be doing the same for my EFI as well. I would recommend both.

Yeah I had thought the same thing too. It was mostly the relay I was wondering about as they say no relay needed. But if it protects the system...

I wouldn't (don't) run a relay on the hp pump. The Go EFI controls the voltage to the fuel pump. You can see the fuel pump info on the handheld. If you do run a relay you would lose this feature. Definitely keep the inertia cutoff switch installed.

One thing I would do is run a ground to the throttle body. The front pass side mounting stud is a good place as it has a clean spot for a good ground.

Agree.
I'm usually all about relays on fuel pumps controlled through the key directly, or a light duty switch, or even through a Ford computer. But like blubberfet mentioned, since this setup can actually control the voltage through it's own computer, it's obviously set up to handle the amperage needed without causing any trouble.
Presumably they supply a length of the appropriate gauge wire for this?

If you are using your own wire, you could probably bump it up one gauge if there was a concern about voltage loss and burdening the pump or switch, but even that's probably not needed if FiTech thinks what they're recommending is adequate.

Thanks blubberfet and Paul,

That answer my question. I had forgot about the voltage control as I associated it with the Fuel Commander.

Thanks again
