What are the holes on the hinge side of the hood for? extra ventilation?

I am building a show quality bronco, so hood fitment is critical. Steel hoods just fit better. The extra holes were drilled by the previous owner for pins. Then he realized no one uses rear pins and he put hinges on it.


Hood sold this morning.
