On new builds What do you go back with on the inside behind dash ? I am scraping- cleaning off this black tar type stuff See pics.It looks like it was put on the bare metal and then spray painted over from the factory it has seam sealer under it also in the seams is it for heat or sound deadening ? I am planing to epoxy prime and re-seam seal all the seams then paint , just not sure what this tar type stuff is for Thanks Keith

It's a PITA to get off without blasting. After scraping use a solvent cleaner. A grinder or wire wheel will just smear it around. I used paint prep/cleaner and the remaining residue wiped out fairly well. I just went back with sound deadener of choice.

It is no problem to remove it scrapes and wipes off with paint cleaner. It did a great job no rust under it at all . I just want to know what is the best to put back on? What are you using after primer or paint to replace this stuff

I used a product called Fuzor that is a seem sealer to close the seam to keep moisture out. It comes in tubes you can put in a regular caulk gun. Once you open the tube you need ot use the whole thing or it is junk in a few hours. Plan ahead.
