I pulled a C6 from an '82 Bronco earlier this week. I wasn't sure if the flexplate was a 28oz or not, so I got it also. I know somewhere around '82-83-84 Ford changed the balance to HO standards of a 50oz counter weight. I believe this flexplate is a 50oz now that I have it home. The weight is about 4" long. If I remember right the 28oz was shorter, about 1-1.5". Can anyone confirm this?

If I recall right the change was in 81 on 5.0/302 engines. The length on the weight sounds like a 50 oz. as well. (I have one here that is 4" at the narrow point and 4 1/4" at the wide point) If it had a 351/5.8 then it would be 28 oz. since they never changed to the 50 oz.

I thought it had a 5.8, but was mistaken. The Bronco had a 5.0 and the 2wd F100 in the same row had a 5.8. It's no big deal I'll just catalog it back for future use. Besides I think I only gave like $40 for the last new plate I had to buy.

As for the tranny I pulled the converter to drain the fluid to see what it looked like. It looks and smells like new. I have not pulled the pan yet but I believe this one to be recently serviced or rebuilt. I plan on at least putting a soft kit in it just to be on the safe side.

That's what I paid for the 28 oz. Flexplate I bought for my C6. I think I had every other flexplate except that one. Not quite but the other three I had were the wrong ones. ;D
