Is there a way of making the shift from 1st to 2nd less of a reach? Pretty good stretch for my arm

You may have to heat and bend the lever into a more comfortable position. I have the Duff's shifter and, although a long throw from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, it's fine for me. I bent mine some to the right (to clear my knee!) and just a little back. I also have the Duff's TC shifter which I shortened by about 6 inches. I kept grabbing it to shift the tranny!!
