The new Bronco gets just a little better mpg than my stock '73.
But the tank is so small on the '21 that the range is worse, at 290 miles. %)
An EV would have better range. lol

There is almost no situation that the EV isn't better, faster, stronger, longer range, less things to go wrong, more even weight distribution. These reasons will be why EV wins the battle.

Really the only downfall is it doesn't sound cool. The sound of a motor is pretty amazing.

True, EV range is getting better. It used to be rare to get over 350 miles on a charge.
I don't get the small tank in the 21 though. Who wants to fill up every 3.5 hours on a long trip?

Electric? really? how about building what has already been promised, FIRST?
They haven't built a solid foundation under the "Frist-floor" Bronco, and now talk of a "Second" Floor)
Gonna be any awful crappy house built on a sand foundation......

I own a 2019 TRD 4runner and it gets 18 mpg. It's also a gutless, super fail.

But none of my toyotas ever break so it's a trade off.

I love my 15 4Runner Trail. Comfortable daily driver and really impressive off road.

115K miles and the only thing it needed beyond maintenance items was needle bearings in front axle.

It goes but the throttle response is dumbed down. There’s an aftermarket kit that fixes this.

Great vehicles all around.

Makes sense, but they don't look anywhere near as good as a Bronco.

Ford has always protected it's IP. I would do the same if I was them.

Man, how true is that! Still I would like the ability to go say 400-450.

My other thought is family coming to stay, will they then fill up their car off your house power?

Great, let’s hint about an electric version of something we don’t seem to be able to produce. If you can’t build it, we can’t buy it. (HINT HINT)%)

I can "fill up" at my house w/o any issues even if the power is out since I have just shy of 100 solar panels (not at night or snowstorm however), but I could buy Tesla style batteries for storage. How about CA people? In a State that randomly shuts power off to entire communitiies because they don't have enough power NOW they are requiring vehicles that that require connecting to the very same power source that they State can't provide enough of ALREADY?

Wow, the State can't build a train along a flat chunk of land between LA and Frisco and somehow they are going to supply enough electricity to charge 17,000,000 cars that are driven almost daily when they can't supply enough now?

Wish ya luck. lol

Can't pump gas in a rolling blackouts as well. Cali is the perfect place to install a solar setup at your home. They are getting cheaper and cheaper. If I lived there, I would totally do a solar system and a battery backup. I would hate to be without power.

I agree, solar is the way to go for a homenowner. Why can't every house (in appropriate areas) have solar for backup or run the entire house on it?

Doesn't take up yard space, utilizes empty wasted roof space and pays for itself especially since most states are willing to spend billions on all kinds of stupid "green programs" but this makes sense.

The new F150 electric supposedly takes 40 min to "fill up" from 15% to 80%. I could plug in for free every night. There's $250 mo savings in gas bills. 300 mile range is a start. 0-60 in under 4 sec. Try that in your Bronco! :)

Can you buy an electric bronco today? No.

I can walk into any Jeep dealer and drive off with a plug in Wrangler Rubicon. OK, maybe not any dealer, but they are on the street today, not in years. Only has 50 mile range full electric, but think about it, thats anyone's daily commute. And would be a great add on for slow even torque on a trail.

Ford has really fallen on it's face rolling out the Bronco, and electrics in general.

My 2020 Ram 1500 is a semi hybrid with a 140 ft/lb-HP electric 48 volt motor system tied into the 5.7 Hemi. Mopar already claims this won't be an option in two years because the hybrids will be true plug ins. More proof Ford fumbled? Ford is bringing back a real v8 in the Raptor. Look I'm a Blu oval guy through and through, but my last Ford is probably a 1973 EB. My next and last vehicle when I'm done using the 1500 for loads will probably be the diesel or plug in hybrid Wrangler Rubicon. It just works. That is success.

Technically, you can: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paRmOWyC1dw

My work commute is only a mile and I drive a few hundred miles a week, I could easily do a electric truck. I drive to see family fairly regularly (450 miles), so really that is the make or break point for me. Adding 45 minutes to that to charge sounds awful, maybe I could do half at half the miles? 20 minutes or so?

Our giant hop farm in my area said they will switch their whole fleet over to electric when they make a 250 or 350. They said the less maintenance would be a huge plus.

I agree - I have had my Tesla Model 3 for 2 years now and it's by far the best car I've owned and I have had a long list of combustion cars.

I even considered building a Bronco with a Tesla power train.
