Oh how I hope this happens and sooner than later!!!! That's one of the biggest things I've learned out of this deal. There are some absolutely fantastic Ford dealers out, and some that aren't worth eight eggs, absolutely 100% zero help. The 2021 bronco forums really have been an eye opener as to what the dealers know and don't know. And I've busted my dealer lying to my face several times. I'll ask the question, they give me an answer, and I'll say are you sure? Then I whip out the cell phone, pull up the pic with the production stats that another dealer has posted on the forum, and show them the info and the date stamp where that info was sent from Ford to the dealer bronco specialist prior. The dealer, 99% of the time, is worthless.

Interesting.

One thing that struck me as odd was this "First came the electric Mustang Mach-E (which already outsells the traditional, V8-powered model". Is he saying the Mach-E is selling better than V8 Mustangs? I can't imagine that, but maybe it's true. Or did he mean it's selling better than the new Mach 1 with V8?

One of the later posts in the article explained it:

Mach E only outsold Mustang in June when Ford made it a “priority” vehicle for chip allocations. During the 1st quarter of 2021, Mustang (gas powered) outsold Mach E almost 3 to 1! Year to date Ford has sold 31,950 Mustangs and 12,975 Mach Es

I had a trip to Spain several years back and noticed the car dealers were set up quite differently. Being that they sold small vehicles the "lot" was usually a building with a glass front that had 2-3 cars inside for display and no in-stock cars to sell. Simply go in, look at what they think you might want to see on their few display cars, order your car and wait until it arrives. I'm not sure what the used car market looked like as we didn't see any lots with any for sale. I could see where this would be attractive to a manufacturer if they can source the parts to make cars on demand and ship. If their competitors don't follow this model and have cars/trucks available it may be hard to get people to wait for delivery. I also wonder if there will be fewer fancy options as those would be harder to source and install in a timely fashion. I say this, because my brother works for a company that upgrades imported cars as they come off the boat in many ports. The car comes in then the upgrades are added to the vehicle to match what the order requires.

Makes sense in our time as brick and mortar stores are going away in favor of the Amazon model.

Working in a dealer for years, ive also noticed up tik in folks that don't try before they buy. Meaning you would be surprised at number of people who don't test drive anymore. I think that's crazy! I have drivin so many cars I thought would be sweet runners and have been very let down...uncomfortable seats, odd control placement, not enough power, blind spots, cramped interior, interior noise, etc... bottom line is I would think you still need to keep at least one example of every model to be able to test drive and see how big/small it is, etc.. that's why you have places like carvanna, buying used cars sight unseen! like really? what could go wrong? LOL

Every new vehicle I buy I have researched until there is not much left to question. Most of my new motorcycles can't be test ridden anyway. I'm very lucky that most vehicles are designed for a 5' 10", 170 pound, right handed male, which is me. Well, some luck. I try hard to stay at 170 ;D

Yup the two dealers i went to both sad they are going to shift to people ordering cars/trucks and have a smaller inventory. Of course right now they have just about zero inventory!
Funny I went on line did the ford account thing built my bronco, and then had to go to the dealer to "order" it. Ford site didnt work then later in the day the salesman loaded my info and sent me an email to proceed with the order and it wont work ,click on proceed with order and it does nothing!! Told salesmen and he didnt know jack. Ford really wants it to be hard to get the bronco!!!

My local Ford dealer is the largest in Washington State. Just expanded their lot, its got to be well over 5 acres now. Right now it is full of overpriced 2 and 3 year old used trucks. I guess it will be a used car lot well into the future.

They used to value dealerships at 7-10x earnings. I wonder what this will do to the value of a dealership. Ford is showing very little loyalty to anyone right now.

Jeep is doing this now, 90% of their stock are customer ordered vehicles. They have no vehicles sitting on the lot, and it might stay that way. Might be the chip thing.

I agree with the sentiments about the dealers and sales, and would opine that no matter how dismal a dealer's service after the sale might be, its still better than what the manufacturer will do for you. YMMV.

It might be a poor look.

A few token vehicles to give you the flavor of what you want to buy then an out of proportion service building dwarfing the sales end.

I see somewhere the other day Ford is allowing dealers to build a Bronco specific part of the dealership.
