Well found a saweet deal on a 97 explorer, has about 100k on it, was running fine up till wreck (still ran after too but wasnt going anywhere). Interior is pretty much spotless, tan leather. Plan is either to put motor/tranny into my next project or to modify the frame and put a Bronco body on it for a street cruiser. Either way I am plenty ahead in the deal. I still have some damage assessment to do but the engine, tranny, front dress, radiator, etc were all untouched. Will have to take a look at the front end to see which route I will take. If anyone needs any parts for their explorer, let me know, I will be parting virtually everything else real soon.

If you are wondering about the accident, the guy was driving himself to the hospital after passing a kidney stone and a block away convulsed from pain and put it into a light pole  . He was fine and there is no blood inside  so its good to go! ;D

Gee, the outside looks kind of crappy ;D

Close by my house I have seen a 96 Explorer with a V8 for $2800, I keep thinking of buiying it and driving it until I wanted to use it for a donor. I wonder what the salvage value of the truck would be once the all the goodies were gone.

Yeah it spent the last few months under another light pole looks like but the inside doesnt even have a stain on it.

I am contemplating replacing the front end and driving it till I am ready to use it (probably a year) but not sure the wife will be keen on that one since we have 3 Broncos, the Yukon (I like to think of it as my superduty ;D ), and the wife's mini cooper and we live in a residential. I keep the trailer, the beast and now the Explorer on the empty lot next to the house :-X :-X ;)

I see a "I'm building a new shop" thread in your future.

I have to wonder where you guys find all the available cash to keep all these projects rolling.

Is it that easy to rob banks in the Pacific Northwest?

My garage will be a revolving door for Broncos for a while. The Pink one and the Beast were funded mostly by my retirement check from teaching in California and are here to stay. The 3rd one I have will get flipped, as will the next one I find most likely till I can bank enough for my stocker (its going to get the explorer stuff) and the wife's trail rig. And yes a Shop thread is in the future, the wife's grandparents have 10 acres that we will be subdividing in the next couple years and we will build up there, free land is nice...adds to the shop fund ;D

Besides the explorer did not require much of an initial investment :-X

Josh was telling me about how pissed you where on the ride over to pick it up. And yes that thing is spotless!!! The front damage does not look all that bad, my first thought was sheet metal only, but I think there may be a little more then that. And you are right if it was any better of a deal it would have been free, and delivered.

I dont know how well the bronco body will fit, but all that AWD stuff fits under a ranger pretty well. The guy that is doing my explorer efi swap just finished one. Ranger body/chassis, 347 stroker w/supercharger, AOD trans, air cond, explorer AWD, runs low 12's, and hardly detectable!! I dont know how long it will stay together but it sure does run hard.
