cash is king. Save up, if you're making payments and it breaks you will be looking for ways to get it back on the road while still paying the bank.

I agree that if you pay cash for toys you'll enjoy them more, plus the money you save on interest will buy more parts. I've never borrowed money for anything other than real estate, now with 1.4 million in loans and the housing market in the dump I'm having 2nd thoughts about that.

Sit tight. Buy when you can afford. Classic vehicles have been overpriced for several years now. Times are tough and it'll get worse in the next year or two and you will get more for your money. The reason to use this forum is because there's a bunch of old geezers who've made the mistakes long ago and their experience is worth more than can be priced. So don't ask a question looking to get the answer you want. Ask, evaluate and decide. But one thing is for sure, whatever you buy will beak down or need parts replaced in the first year. Hard to do if you spent it all plus some on the buy. Good luck and be patient. These guys know what they are talking about.

I second (or third) this comment. I bought my '66 a few years ago with cash. We actually sold my wife's car and I used the money from that. I could not imagine owing money on it. It's a big enough money pit as it is.

Well.... I ummm... Decided not to listen to everyone's advice and I applied for a personal loan for the missing portion and GOT APPROVED!!

I go to pick it up Wednesday.

I will post pictures when I get it.

I just couldn't help myself. Been waiting to find one the way I like for a long time. I am young and make money. I can make a few mistakes along the way. I sold one of my cars (2008 scion) and borrowed a few dollars to drive something I really want. I don't think it was that bad of a choice.

Congrats! We need pics.

Pay it off before you do anything to it. Mine's free and clear, and I like it that way.

Save up money. Pay off those credit cards. You'll need those credit cards later to buy parts for the bronco. So after you pay off the credit cards and save a little money. Then don't blow your saved money. Get a PERSONAL LOAN through the bank. The interest rate is slightly higher but they don't care what you spend the money on. That way you don't have to blow your savings. And a $5000 loan is probably $100 a month payment.

Watch the movie THE MONEY PIT and replace the house with a bronco and you'll see your future.

Congrats on the purchase, and good move on selling something to get the bronco. Now post up some pic's when you get it home.
