Good morning, I’m doing a frame off. What are you guys coating/painting inside the frame? Por 15 or something equivalent to? Thanks

Where I live it is just as cheap for me to have my frame powder coated. I have done Por 15 and I certainly prefer powder coating and I live right next to the ocean where rust is always an issue.

Another vote for powder coating. There is a misnomer about PC only doing the outside of the frame. I used Ospho on the internal portions of the frame a week before it went to the PC shop. They also said they actually sandblast a large portion of the internal frame as well. Their blast nozzle fit pretty deep into the frame ends. Between that and the ospho neutralizing the rust, they then put powder in every hole and opening. They say their powder blows out of every hole when applied. When I picked up the frame, I could not see nor find any area of the internal frame that was not powder coated. Looking down inside the frame from the ends with a flashlight, the internal frame looks just like the outside frame in terms of PC coverage. There are a lot of things I would not powder coat, but I do not think there is a better long term option for the frames.

Galvanized - $500 in 2017, which included pressure washing and sandblasting at a commercial outfit in Fort Worth. Turn-around, 4 days. Threaded holes in the frame tightened up nicely requiring re-tapping owing to the Zinc deposition. KBS after so it wasn’t so shiny.
