Freshly painted dash intall

I just got back my dash that I had painted at a local shop. I'm worried that I'm going to scratch it up when I install.

Any advice on intall order/tricks to help me out. Should I install the dash first and then intall all the gauges/knobs or intall everything while its out?

Install everything while its out, its much easier. If you are worried about scratches tape the places that might get scratched when you install it.

You could go to a local sign shop and get premask tape and put over it... then pull the premask off the area as you install each switch. It is pretty cheap stuff and would protect it.

Cover it with blue painters/masking tape. As you get to each hole, peel it back enough to get whtever it is seated and tight. Once you are done with everything, peel all the tape off.

Put as much together as you can first. Especially the headlight switch. Put masking tape around the ends and get someone to help you. I just finished mine and wished I would have been patient enough to wait for a helper.

Good tips, thanks. I will be patient and wait 10 days for it to cure and then cover the dash before install.
