Front grill mounted turn signals

I am running a poll for opinions along with pros and cons of the front grill turn signals being either the 66-68 or the 69-77 lights. I am torn which way to go because I like them both depending on my mood. I will need to decide soon as when I order my new grill, I might as well order the one I want instead of having to modify it at a later date. I like the fitment of the early style because that is how the grill was made however with keeping the side marker lights etc. I also like the look of the later style with the side marker lights as they are about the same size, it keeps things looking in proportion.... this is not quite as bad as picking a color but it is not far off...

I welded in new tabs on my '76 grill and installed the '66 style in clear with orange bulbs. I like it much better than the big orange rectangle which is not clean or inside the grill like the older design.

Call me weird, but I prefer small ones for 66-68 and big ones for 69-77. :)

I like what came on them.

Funny how time changes the thought of things. Cut fenders back in the day now uncut ....big grille lights back then simply ment you had a newer Bronco and prolly had a D-44 up front as well.

On my 1974 I went with the smaller lens in orange, kinda the best of both looks. I don't like the white lens with orange bulbs. I hated the rotten rubber of the originals why go down that path again. When I bought my 1974 Bronco Christmas eve 1977 they were already rotted. Not one of Fords better ideas.

I've always thought that the more you cut, lift, modify, and add bigger tires, the more appropriate the bigger 69-77 ones look.

The earlier style look better on a stock or slightly modified Bronco.

The later model lights look like an after-thought IMNSHO;D

(Nevermind I have 2 '66's)

I agree. I can totally see the production engineering staff getting called to the assembly line and getting asked how they are going to put the newer (Govt. Reqd.) lens on the older style grill. Umm....lets just eliminate the tabs drill a couple holes and bolt them to the face and put a big sponge of a gasket behind it. My vote is for the 66-68 unless you're doing a period correct resto.

I swap to the early style as well.
The main benefit is the pads don't rot out in 5 years.

I like the later style, too. The small lights scream Dana 30 to me. But what Half-Cab said is more to the point. The lights that came on it are the ones that look right.

I am liking the feedback, it is all appreciated! I will be cutting the Duck and am fighting myself back and forth which way to go which leads me to this poll. I know some vendors now carry the large gasket in urethane so the rotten look will no longer be an issue either.... If I do go small it will def have the amber lenses as the clear will no go well with my color combo and look I am after. I just need to make a decision soon so when I order my new grill I get the appropriate one.

I actually like both. When I converted my '73 to the earlier version I used the amber insert lenses instead of the clear with amber bulbs and I really liked the look (sort of the best of both worlds)

Maybe it's just my "trained purist eye", but all I see is 'something fishy' because the
small grille lenses and the side markers don't go together... ;)

I m leaning towards the big ones with the toms billet monts behind them in place of the rubber gasket. Give it a chrome trim look
