Could be a couple of things either the sending unit in the tank is shot, the wires are not hooked up or bad or the gauge itself is bad. Its usually the sending unit but I recently had a bad guage. To pull the guage is fairly simple just remove the 4 screws holding the instrument cluster in and push back and tilt forword that will allow you to access the 2 small screws holding the guage in the cluster. You should be able to test the guage by just hooking it up to the battery if it moves its good and its probably your sending unit if it doesnt move then you need a new gauge.
Before you do anything how about go back to the rear tank unplug the wire and jump the conection,if the gauge reads full then its the sender if not goto the switch and unplug it and wire around the switch, and try again.
The most common failure I've found for a non-reading fuel gauge is the sender float developes a leak , fills up with fuel & thats that . Check first if theres power to the sender & if so , start pulling sending units .
