I am considering getting a PSC setup, and wanted to see some pics of them installed on a bronco. My concern is the front frame brace appears to be in the way of up travel once I put the high steer kit on. My buddy has it on his cherokee and is mounted very high, which is what I want... Once it is installed it looks like only 2-4 inches of uptravel before it hits that cross brace. Any opinions/options are appreciated.

I've got what you need - I'm running the double ended kit on a D60 with high steer. I stretched my front axle forward 6" and you should probably do the same, it only makes sense. I had to remove the engine x-member and weld in a piece of 2x3x.25 tubing right behind the radiator on the frame.

No room!


Here it is without the x-member. I don't have an pictures of the tubing welded in, but it's close to the radiator.



Nothing hanging down -


Driveshaft is made by Tom Woods - 1330 on axle, 1310 on t-case. I had him clearance both joints for more flexibility and the shaft is smaller diameter, but thicker. Cannot make it bind - even with the extreme flex and jumping ;D


Here is how everything sits-


Hoses are run outside the frame rail and follow the track bar down to the cylinder.

To hold the hose to the track bar I used some GIANT zip ties that you can remove with a button, used a pliers to make them tight and they have yet to move.


I mounted this Atomic Cool cooler by Derale to keep temps under control - works perfect.


I'm not running a body lift at all, so the only place I could mount the reservoir high enough to get th properly flow was directly on top of the pump. It may clear with a body lift, possibly a cowl hood.

I got the fitting from Speedway Motors - it is a -10 to -10 fuel fitting, but it works perfect. It is aluminum, so I build the VERY sturdy bracket that mounts to the Sag adapter and keeps everything solid.

Thanks - the steering? I drive the tow rig with the Bronco on the back, hop in the Bronco and drive it around, no difference. It steers like a car - it is slightly heavy and very responsive. The wheels most as fast and I can move the steering wheel - I think lock to lock it is 2.5 turns. I've had this thing doing over 70mph (with the welded rear and boggers) and it was easily controllable.

It is also load reactive, so if you are forcing the steering against something immovable, you know it. Very nice - PSC is top notch, so is their support.

I'm in the process of a motor swap - so please excuse the lack of power and carb, but this is a nice demonstration of the steering response.


Tired 302, 4.11's and 37's dont really mix well :p

It appears to be extremely close to the upper frame support, if you did come hard off a rock wouldn't the psc slam into it (the support)?

What support?


I cut the engine x-member out and mounted a 2x3 flush with the frame rails as far forward as I could.


I've had all 4 tires off the ground coming out of a mud hole before and it came down soft and tracked straight, as soon as the tires were back on the ground I was back to WOT and in a straight line.

Its not something that NEEDS to be done as far as moving the axle around, but the further forward it goes, the easier things get. The EB crossmember is in the way and needs to be removed like has been mentioned.

Full hydro kit from PSC is an excellent system and has worked well in my rig for three years now, with the exception of the pump, but they have warrantied it when I had problems. I can run my EB 70 on the interstate with bias ply tires and have no real issues. Its nice to turn 40's with one finger :D

The biggest thing to learn up on is the Ackerman Angle and how it affects your setup. You want the ram centered if possible, the arms equal length, and at full turn you want it as straight as possible. Paying serious attention to those things will make the steering behave alot better.

Did both of you guys buy the complete kit with all fittings, hoses and pump included, or did you piece everything together. I am probably just going to spring for the complete system instead of messing around.

I have a couple of friends that pieced the system together and spent way more in the long run as far as dollars AND time. Buying the system is the way to go, be done with it. Everything in the kit is top notch, but make sure...make SURE, that the reservoir is mounted ABOVE the pump. not off to the side, not with a little drop, but where the res can drop all its fluid into the pump, cause it needs it :D

If you want to talk to a PSC guy that can save ya a few bucks, shoot me a PM.

Kyle, In the top right picture in your original photo entry, the cross member is there, and dang close. I now see what you have done in the next entry. Thanks for the photos, and I will be pm'ing you in the near future.

Clint speaks the truth when it comes to steering angles, ram on center and reservoir location!

Buy the complete kit - all of their stuff is TOP quality, so nice my father pieced together a little simpler design but got all the hoses and fittings from PSC- they are THAT nice.

I spent a lot of time making sure the links were straight at all times when the truck is turned.

This is what you are after at max lock :cool:


You want to clamp the cylinder where you are thinking of mounting it and cycle the steering. I didn't have time to mess with steering stops and didn't want to trash anything on my first run (crunched for time) so I installed some plastic spacers on the inside of the ram to limit the travel. Now that I have time to tinker, they need to come out so I can get the full turning radius.

If the bottom of the reservoir is not above the pump inlet, your pump will fail. I found this out as well, PSC had a new pump to me within 2 days. Either mount the reservoir on top the pump or mount it above and slightly in front of the pump.

PSC's service is the best in the business - don't hesitate to call.

Another tip is to put limiters on your ram to stop ya from pushing through a knuckle. These orbitals give good feedback, but a clamp style stop on each side of the ram to limit travel is always a good thing. Im going to be machining some out for mine this winter some time.

Talk to PSC - I got UHMV plastic inside of mine, so when you turn it doesn't force anything into and damage the seals :)
