Now you just need to give me a call and let me do your floor coating for you. I am serious. Nice shop by the way. Just needs some good quality floor coating.

Pat, I thought about epoxies and other coatings and as hard as I am on floors (grinding, cutting, welding, dragging heavy sharp stuff around on them and general abuse) I decided against it. I used 5000 psi concrete then sprayed on a densifer to bump the surface strength up to 8000. Let it all cure and then laid down 3 coats of wax. If i scratch it or damage it I can rewax it and be good to go. If I wrecked the epoxy I would sit and cry.
Thanks for the complement.

This was definitely not a cheap way to go but better for me than bring in 250 cy of fill and building big retaining walls.
The frame is fairly light. w12x10s and 15's for beams with 1.5" of camber. Columns are w6x15. Composite 20ga steel deck with #4 bars 12" oc each way. 5000 psi 4" concrete slab.

Dayuum.. That's slick. Lot of country underneath in the back lol

I spent quite a bit of time researcing expoxy flooring as well and decided against it. Wasn't worth my costs and realized it's only a garage floor, 5 years later I'm glad I didn't.

Nice place, Phred. Looks like you can park the parts vehicles or next project underneath out of the weather also!

I did a ton of research and the garage journal was helpful in weeding out the not so good stuff. There are future plans for a deck, sitting area, fire pit and other stuff under and adjacent to the garage. I had a couple waterproof receptacle and junction boxes install underneath. I figure a couple nice ceiling fans and lights on the ceiling will make a nice place to relax in the shade. Cook some steaks and chill after a long week. My back yard is big for an in town lot and it backs up to a green space so no one can build behind me.
