No tech article but here is what I did...

It is nothign more than a piece of 14ga sheetmetal cut in the shape of the glove box. I mounted all the original hardware to it including the Explorer plate.

Works great and looks like the stock door. I still have the stock door so it I ever wanted to reinstall it for whatever reason I can.

I did the swing out door and it was easy and works nice. I will measure where i ran the rod and post back. I also used a small peice of clear line like for a fish tank vs. The brake line peice so it did not rub yhe door.
The hard part is making sure your holes line up since you cant drill them in one shot. I used tape and measured 10 times.
I also used a drimmel with a 90 degree end to drill the holes in the dash.

I took a slightly different approach. Didn't want to cut up a glove box door signed by Duffy!

You know, not for nothin but doesn't that SERIOUSLY COMPROMISE the strength of the cage!

I first saw that one Jim's nightmare rig years ago and planned on doing the same and reinforcing the cut section of the cage but since I already had my dash out to paint I just swapped sides with the speaker grill on the dash.
On my other rig I did the sliding hinge.

I saw that mod years back, Jim @ WH's did that on Nightmare.

Interesting. I saw Nightmare at the East Coast Round Up a couple of years ago but didn't notice this mod.

You know, not for nothin but doesn't that SERIOUSLY COMPROMISE the strength of the cage!

It's a welded in piece of 6-inch C-channel about twice the thickness of the tube itself. It's probably stronger.

The mare does keep evolving. I snagged the chrome ash tray from the mare when Wild Horses had it on ebay.
