I left a note last year on a EB that has been sitting and not running since at least Jan. 2010. Well the owner just texted me tonight that he is interested in selling. I asked the normal questions and here was his answers. Truck doesn't run because of not having a battery, tailgate and hood has some rust, windshield has a crack in do to cutting the lawn, a rock hit it. Liftgate for the hardtop sits in the bed and not installed. Small patch of rust behind seat???
Tires are probably shot etc....

Here is what I know and seen;1970 truck has not moved for at least 3.5 years, never been washed, rear quarters are cut out and front factory fenders have been installed. After market side mirrors, ugly ass front bumper and hardtop seems to be rhino lined. Friends that have looked at the truck have told me, missing liftgate and water and leaves are all over the truck bed. A friend mine who works on my eb and 6.0hhhhhh moved the truck to a different location on the property due to house renovation with his flatbed. Also heard it was New Mexico bronco and brought up to East Coast as a project along with another project car.

I know what I want to offer him and really only just want to restore the body if its not in bad shape and put it on my chassis. All good parts I would sell here on CB. If I throw my number at him, and he goes for it, then I will take it. Or stick to my orginial plan of waiting for a few years for complete overhaul later in life for my drivable bronco.

What would you do and offer him sight unseen? I will take pics/post Wednesday night if possible. Thanks

Interesting question. I am going to look at a '70 this weekend that has very similar rust issues- but it runs and has a 351, C6, NP205. $3k

The guy will probably over value it- especially if he brought it from NM and is willing to pay someone to move it around his yard instead of pulling a good battery from another car. I bet he wants $4k and its probably not worth $1k...

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for the responses guys. I do plan and look at it hard with flashlight, open the hood and check wiring, normal rusts spots, try and to list all the good parts as well. I have been well educated by this forum. Wish I knew this forum before I bought my current one. I plan to go a tiny bit over $1000.00 and he will probably want $4000.00. Will bring a wad of $$$. A decent EB is hard to find here in Jersey.

Hope this guy is not reading this.lol

I have been stalking this EB for over 3 years now. (drove by the EB before coming home) Can't wait to try to make a deal. If I don't buy it I probably help him sell it on this forum or give him some advice. I'll keep you guys posted.

It's also lifted with ton axles and big tires... He started around $5k... It needs alot of work including detailed suspension rebuilding and floor repairs, but it has good bones. If its worse than I have seen in pics... We will see where the price goes.
