Got the new Aero tank

The new low profile Aero tank arrived today. About 12" deep and set up for the Explorer pump hanger. Looks pretty good. Not a stainless show piece but ok. I was a little surprised to find it had no baffles. From what I've read about EFI, fuel starvation from fuel slosh can be a problem. I am wondering if anyone has experienced any fuel supply problems from unbaffled tanks? Weather it be stock tanks, Sherman tanks or Aero tanks is everyone's new EFI motor getting enough fuel? I'm not building a hill climber but don't want any issues jumping out of the hole with a 1/4 tank of gas.

... SO HOW MANY GALLONS of fuel. . What was the cost. I'd like to have a bigger tank. But not 350.00 to 400 bucks.
.. As for what you ask. I can't think unless it's down below a quarter tank.. There would be any shot at a problem.
... From my time at Chrysler. I got it hammered in my head to keep the tank over 1/2 full So the fuel pump didn't get hot & burn up. I'm not sure I ever saw a pump burn up because the tank didn't have enough fuel in it. But I suppose.
ALSO I think our fuel pumps, pump enough fuel fast enough That any miss pickup for a split second .. WILL BE filled by the power of the pumps.
& YOUR NOT Dragging racing & USING ALL THE FUEL IN THE LINE . YOUR idling so your fuel usage is at the none to 5 drops.
... I can't see baffling making a hill of beans .

I'm a little surprised too, since the normal deep tanks do have decent baffling. Or at least I thought so! Gonna have to go out and look inside mine to make sure.
Maybe they felt that the shallower tank does not need it as much?

I have not read of any real starvation issues myself, but that could be due to either nobody tasking their system that much, or they've done something about the lack of baffling. Such as adding a sump under the filter/pump assembly such as we have with our M1A1 tank.
I think Tanks Inc. sells them?

You won't have that kind of feedback from most users I don't think. The Sherman and the normal Aero (again, "I think") 23 gallon tanks are well and fully baffled.
I don't have any pics of the inside I don't think, but there are well designed plates in the Sherman.

I just don't know for sure if it's a problem or not.
I'm thinking it'll be ok for the most part at least, but I understand you'd want the best all the way down to that almost-empty point just in case you needed it.

Good luck. Hopefully someone here has some direct feedback for you.

I have a 12" Aero, I did not choose to get the recessed fuel pump version though. Mine has a baffle (wall) welded down the middle.

Yes I do, did my first EFI conversion in 94, used a 92 mustang 5.0 system. I installed the stock mustang pump into stock Bronco rear tank and did not add a baffle/slosh in the tank, if I let it get below 1/4 tank it will hiccup/stutter after a hill. I just keep more than a 1/4 tank of gas in it. I don't drive it enough to justify removing the tank and fixing it, if the pump ever goes bad I will fix it then.

My only tip is make sure when you mount the FP it needs a lil clearance off the bottom. I put my stock Explorer pump in and it sat on the bottom, meaning touching the bottom of the tank. I had Fuel starvation problems and it took me a bit to figure out the FP need a little more room

First to answer the questions. Jake from Aero said the shallower tank is around 20 gallons and unfortunately it cost closer to $600. Thanks for all your input, I am going to check the clearance on tank bottom. I would hope since this tank is made for this pump setup it isn't a problem but we know how that goes. Thanks again

I bought two aero tanks a couple years ago thru a group buy started by a member here on this forum. One is currently installed. I never really looked inside of it to see if it had baffles in it or not.

It has an 18 gallon capacity and I've taken the Bronco trail riding/rock crawling to a couple different off road parks with no issues. It also came with a skid plate which helps with peace of mind.

When you say no baffles, I am assuming you mean that there is nothing in the tank what-so-ever to compartmentalize it...
Aero should have included a "slosh box" at the bottom of the tank, that the fuel pick up sits in, so the pump does not try and suck air when the fuel is low and moving around as you drive?

After taking a closer look the tank is baffled from front to back but nothing behind the pump like I was expecting. Was a little hard to feel the reduction in width through the pump hole. Thanks for your input
