H Block And Hedman Long Tube Headers

Hey Guys and Gals I had a few questions on the placement of my stock H Block on my 69. Just putting the final touches on the drivetrain of the frame up resto. I am running the stock 302 will a set of the hedman long tubes with the jet hot coating from the mass buy. I am switching over to hydroboost and I am keeping my stock H Block. With all new lines of course. With the block in the stock holes, it comes very close to the header on the inside of the driveer frame rail. About 1/4" to 3/8" away. Will this be a problem. I don't want to do all this work and have brake issues because of to much heat on the distibution block. Does anyone see a problem with moving the block towards the back on the frame rail about 4" and mounting it in the first hole where my clutch equalizer bar use to mount. I am running a hydralic clutch so this area is free. It would move the block about 1.5" from the header. Is this enough? I also am going to have issues with the braided extended line from the front axle mounting on the frame close to the header as well. Has anyone run into this problem and what should I do. Thanks 69sport

moving it is a good idea no reason to heat that brake fluid up. not sure about your braided line if its more than 1in away I'd probably leave it as the heat wont be as bad and should have some cool air and heat rises so it should get as hot.

My H block is in the stock location also and it's very close to the drivers header. Over a lot of years now I have not had any problems yet with super heating the brake fluid.

Still --- it does make me think about it from time to time

Thanks

Thanks for the replies, I think I will move the block back. I will have to measure and find out where it will line up with the body. I am running a 2" body lift but I don't want it to end up in a bad spot. Now on to the flex line. It has to mount to the frame somewhere and the only place that makes since is on the frame behind the motor mount assembly. It will run about 3/4" from the header. The flex line I got from one of the vendors has a plastic coating over the braided stainless. Really slick for keeping it clean but not the best idea for being around heat. I thought about getting one of those spark plug socks and putting it around the brake line in the area closes to the header and maybe it would work as a heat shield. What do think? Thanks 69sport

You could take the bolt out of the H block push it to the out side of the frame and put the bolt back in the same hole, using the bolt to squeeze the bracket between the bolt and frame. It moves it about 1" more to the left from the header and you don't have to rework the brake lines.
