I always find that hardtop posts catch on the bed rail when I try to remove it. Is there any reason why i shouldn't cut off half of the lower portion and use only one bolt? What about installing nutserts for the lift gate brackets and eliminating the post all together?

" They say the post stop the body from spreading, but if you don't have the top on how could they? So I cut mine half into so I could still bolt down the support for the rear glass
