Headers Worth it on a Pure Stock 302??

You cannot change the jets on a holley two barrel carb. This carb is rated at 500your cfm on the plus side. The negative side is that carb is efficent as pouring gasoline in a bucket, there really is no.way to meter the flow. When you swap to a 4 barrel you can meter the fuel in each barrel. Hence Horsepower gains

Headers are a pain in the ass and there is bunch of dyno tests out there that show they are not any better than a quality dual exhaust system on a stock and mildly built 302

If your going to run headers expect leaks and having to spend more $money and time trying to stop those leaks.

Dont know what holley 2barrel your using but every one I've ever seen and rebuilt had removable jets.. Now a 500 cfm 2v can be a bit to big for a 302. they do make 350 cfm versions.



I've run headers on my bronco for over 30 years I've rarely ever had a header leak or problems with the bolts loosening. Thinking back I can only remember having 2 bolts loosen 1 actually fell out and did cause a leak but other than that I've had no issues.

I put loc tite on my header bolts and cut the collectors off my headers and welded my tailpipes to them. 7 years and no leaks yet and I've drug them thru mud and mashed them on rocks and still don't leak.
