headliner backing

Started making a fiberglass backing for a headliner. It has 1" hard foam backing. Got the rear section roughed in so far. Will cover it it foam/cloth like modern cars.

Rastiss, hope u keep the pictures comming. I spent hours and hours trying fab a headliner out of 1/8 th inch plywood. If I did not have the roll bar I could have made it work, and I think it would have looked good too. I too was going to cover it with that headliner fabric. So now I'm back to the drawing board. Or just bite the bullet and spend $100 on the cardboard ones, or $300 on that three peace Fiberglas one...

I just pulled it out of the old hard top I'm using for a mold. It seems the fiberglass resin warped the foam as it cured either from heat or the resin "gassing out". Its very usable but not as flat as Id like. I think I should have used some cardboard or something in between and it would come out better. I think I'll go on with it and if I don't like it, give it another go...

I've never done anything with Fiberglas before. Seems like the kind of thing that u need to know what what ur doing. Given the size of that project ur doing u must have the know how.

I'm subscribed as I'll be making a headliner for mine once I finish my roof rack and clear coat on the top. I was thinking some luan (sp?) and some headliner material with foam attached from ebay and put the peel and stick/dynamat on the roof prior to installing. Not sure of the plans for hold the headliner in place yet. Was thinking some fabbed strips of 1/8 flat stock.
