Help checking out a Bronco in Memphis TN

Hey Guys,

New to the forum but have lurked for a while. I finally sold my car and am interested in a decent later year EB. I work from home, so right now no commute but i want something reliable enough to putz around town and hit the trails on the weekends...go backwoods camping, take the kids for a ride etc.

I am ready to buy, have cash, but for anything relatively far (from Gainesville FL), its a hassle because we have a family and only one car right now...so travelling overnight is only something I want to do if I'm 99% sure I'm coming home towing another vehicle. With a 3yr old in the house, I hate to leave my wife without transportation if she needs it.

So with that said, I've contacted Jay (stang67) here) on his 76 bronco he has for sale in Memphis TN. He's been really open and told me everything I've asked about it so far, but having never owned one I still can't bring myself to purchase sight unseen. I asked his permission to have a 2nd party check it out, if anyone is local and willing. I'm not here to bash him by any means, quite the opposite, I have no problems with anything he's told me so far and I've read all his old posts so I know the history of the vehicle since he bought it. The fact he's open to having someone check it out for me tells me that he's not hidden anything from me!

I'm 12hours away from Memphis, and I'm willing to do an overnight trip and then back towing the EB, but I really want to make sure its the "right" one and something I'm likely to come back with.

Is there anyone relatively local to Memphis who would be willing to check this out? If anyone is, I'd def take it offline and discuss privately, again I'm not out to get anyone here just to protect myself hope that makes sense.

Please let me know if anyone can help out; thanks guys...

WELCOME to the site.... That is not bashing at all, that is covering your own ass, and everyone does it..

Good Luck & I can imagine someone in the area would be willing to help you out..

I'm just 10 miles north of Memphis. I'd be happy to go look at it. I'm not a mechanic but I've been working on my own mustangs and Broncos since 1984. Give me a shout.
