So, I've just started experiencing a oil leak on my 73. I have the 302. I am fearing the worst here, given where the leak is looking like it's coming from. Can you guys take a look and give me your opinion and some advice?

ETA: I found the leak, it was residual power steering fluid from a leaky hose. Replaced the hose and voila!

There's an oil leak?

If I squint hard...perhaps the valve covers are leaking. I suppose the cylinder head gasket could be seeping, but it looks like the wetness starts higher up.

It's hard to tell. I got up under there and searched around. It might be residual power steering fluid that dripped and ran down when I changed a pressure hose this weekend. I looked at the oil pan bolts and gasket and all looks okay there. I'll just have to monitor it over the next few days and see if I can identify any issue.

I just saw the oil around the transmission/engine interface and gulped a bit. But looking harder, there's definitely no issue there.

your oil pan is getting rusty because it isn't leaking enough. get down there and remove a few bolts or better yet just break a couple of them off!
