Hello all,
I can really use some advice on how to mount a stone stock front passenger’s seat in my 1974 Explorer. The original seats are gone, and it has gone through two sets of ‘other’ seats, one of the Chinese race buckets and another set of foxbody mustang seats. I really want to bring it back to stock..but I am concerned about the mounting. Do I have the right holes? Are they in the right place? Complicating things is that the section of the floor has been replaced by a non-Bronco shop and I don’t know if they put the mounting holes in the right location. The centerline of the holes from the crease in the tunnel is dead on 10 inches, but the crease from the seat platform to the center of the two holes is just over 12.25 inches.
I don’t know how the rear of the seat is supposed to mount. I see two holes back there with bolts that thread in…not sure if that is for the footman loop though.
I don’t have my front seats yet (shout out to Bronco Hut!) but I have a mobile welder coming soon and hope to have everything lined up before the seats come. Maybe this is not a reality….but thought I would check with you all experts.

I think once you get your original seats and test fit them this will all look a lot easier.

The Driver's seat bolt holes (4) are Threaded 5/16". The Passenger seat folds forward and does not have rear bolts, just the Footman Loop. The Passenger seat has two pairs of holes. There are two in the floor closer to the door (right front pivot bracket) and 2 up on the riser to the left side (left front pivot bracket).

Going across the back of the seats you also have 4 Seat Belt Holes in line and these are 7/16" Fine Thread. There are also 2 Bolts near rear left corner of passenger seat for the Footman Loop to go in the floor.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I think I am good!

Is the footman loop on the upper section of the seat platform (on the same horizontal plane as the driver’s seat)? If so, I think I see the 5/16 threads! Phew.

I know it will be better when I get the stock front seats. I want to cut off the mounts for the fox body seats now though and make sure they are not needed...and it looks like they are not.

Driver’s seat mounts are all there....I see them and that part of the seat platform was untouched. The forward passengers inboard mounts are there up on the tunnel on the same plane as the T Case shifter. If the forward passengers outboard mounts are slightly off (because that section of the pan was mid-installed), it could be easily re-drilled in the floor and secured with nuts and washers.

Thanks again!

Yes, Footman Loop (2 holes) is on the upper section at the rear left of the passenger seat.

Wait until you get the Original Seats and brackets prior to modifying.
