I thinking of getting a new holley 2 barrel 500 cfm carb to replace the 350 cfm holley 2 berrel on there now. Has any one had any luck with a carb like this or should I try something else?
i beleive mine is the 500 cfm version of the carb i like it except for the power but thats cuz its 2bbl it gets good mileage and does alright off road too, steep angles will make it not happy but everythign else is good
its a good little carb for cheap
go for it
Id consider staying with the 350cfm should get way better driveability than a 500 cfm. If you are having problems offroad see my tech article it works on holley 2V carbs as well.
Thanks for the info. The 350 is on its last leg and I was hoping to go up to a slightly bigger carb. I did read your artical and will try and rasie the vent, again thanks for both of your in put I think I will go with the 500 and modify the vent.
That's what I've got on mine right now. it works good. it has center hung floats, so to improve off camber stuff ya could put on some side hung float bowls.
If you dont care about gas then go but thik about 8mpg with a 500 cfm holly but they work very good. Put one on a 86 mustang 2300 ran like a striped ape. Good luck with your choice.;D ;D ;D Bill %) ;D
don't know if you know this but...
2v and 4v carbs are rated for CFMs on a different scale, the "500 cfm 2v"
actually turns into a 350 cfm when you use the same scale as a 4v.
so it may very well be the same model of carb.
I'll be stickin my 600 cfm 4v Holley back on sometime this summer.
better gas mileage, and better throttle response, since the primaries are smaller than the bore on the 2v.
