I found a used 4160 600CFM for sale for $160 bucks. Says it only has 100 miles on it but you all know how that goes... Looks in excellent condition though, would you say it is worth $160 for a used Carb? (Electric choke)

you will need a aftermarket intake manafold. Assume it'll need cleaning. Personally I would go a smaller carb ......something like a 450 or 500.

That sounds a bit high for a used carb even with electric choke. The 4160 uses only 1 metering block and a metering plate for the secondaries. Which means you can tune the primaries with jets, but you must replace the rear plate to tune the secondaries. I prefer 4150's.

I've never paid that much for a used Holley. but then again...I've never bought a used Holley that didn't need any work.
The 4160 metering plates work fine for most stuff. usually, they're on the lean side of perfect. they can be converted to 4150 style for pretty cheap.

600 cfm isn't too big in this case IMO, since it has a vacuum secondary they're very forgiving. and then you can still use it if you ever run a badasser motor.
I still don't think I'd pay that much. If you are familiar with workin on 'em, you can find one cheaper.

Love this place, you guys know everything!

Well I talked him down to 125 so depending on how close he lives I may just go pick it up tomorrow. And yes, I know, but thanks for the heads up on needing a new manifold...piece by piece I will get her to be perfect.

I got mine at a swap meet from a guy that was from AZ. He travels to all the big swaps and sells rebuilt carbs. It was used, but freshly rebuilt, brass floats... for $110.00 I think it was. Just had to put smaller jets in (and of course a 4bbl manifold) and it was good to go. I have been fooling around with the secondary spring some but that's more tinkering than anything. $125 is probably not too bad if you don't have to mess with it other than jet adjustments.

Sounds good, well turns out he is out on an island, so it would cost $40 on top of gas. I will keep looking for 4150's and 4160's.

Thanks again guys-

I've got an older 4160 that's been freshly rebuilt. It was too big for my Bronco so i didn't run it. Let me know if you want it. I'll sell it cheap since i don't need it....
