Spendy, yes.

Saved from sore noggin: Priceless

It's on my top 5 list of best upgrades (along with the liftgate shocks, I hate getting hit on the head)

I got mine from BCB dont remember how much I payed $70 or so I guess. This has to be the best thing I have done to the EB, I even bought a set for my dads '71. Got tired of wondering when that bent prop rod was going to collapse on my brain bucket. At 70 well worth it!

Sent the pics to you and the other gentlemen that asked tonight. (man dragging my feet these days!!)
Pulled the expense sheet (yea I keep one) and found the the shocks installed, all expenses including the 2 cokes at the U-Jerk yard was 23.40 Canadian money. that is about 18 bucks US.
I believe Madgyver has got it done cheaper but he is the only one.

Bone yard. $6.00 each off 86-92 caddy El Dorado or Seville. Get the brackets off the hood to use on the part where the inner and outer fender come together, I was able to use a stock bolt hole, a couple of L brackets on the hood. SS. hardware and all I was under $15.00.
I got the idea one day in a dazed stuper haning out in the e-room waiting for stiches in the top of my head.
The end of that hood spring is sharper than it looks.
Pics upon request.

OK so here's a potential curveball:

What is the difference in the vendor kits when you specify fibergalss v. stock hood? More powerful spring or different mounting and angles with the same spring? Is there a pressure rating with these shocks that you can use to say, ok, this is too much pressure to place against fiberglass for a long period of time?

got mine for FREE off a doner, they work great. It doesnt take much brainpower to do this project. All this talk about if you dont cough up $70 in vendor money you're putting you life at risk is just being narrow mined. I'll bet my hood shocks are just as good if not better than those from any vendor, and i saved $70.

edit: but, it's only $70. Hood shocks will make your life under the hood so much better they are really worth much more. If you cant find a donor or a u-pull yard ante up and order some, you wont regret.

In my kits the fiberglass lifts are weaker and there are 2 stiffener straps to epoxy the lift mounts to the hood. The lifts for the steel hoods are stronger. If the lifts are too strong they will damage the hood, if they are too weak they will not hold the hood up or will not last long. The fender brackets I designed to set at a angle to decrease side load. Others set the lifts up to go foreword when closed. This gives a little more room to work when the hood is up. I designed my lifts to go backwards when closed. You lose a little working room when the hood is up but when the hood is down the lifts push the hood down while the others tend to push the hood up. Also if you need the extra room my lifts will un-snap to be totally out of the way. Also My lifts have a 1 yr. warranty. All of the above is included in the price. Also hood shock is a trademark of B.C. Broncos.

I don't mind you using Hood Shocks as long as you are not selling hood lifts as "Hood Shocks" or discribing low Q poorly engineered/thought out stuff as "Hood Shocks" :) That would be as bad as calling a diet RC a dietcoke.
