I have a high end upholsterer working on an interior right now with red houndstooth. He said the sms material is way overpriced and more difficult to work with. We went with the supplier he suggested. Wish I could remember the name

Well I went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered the seat covers front and rear and the rear quarter panel covers in Blue Hounds tooth from SMS. I paid for it last night (May 14th) when they called me and they walked me through everything they do (the correct way) according to them vs how the other vendor sells there's.
I was able to get the 19% off sale and they even thru in another $100 off. I recorded the date so I could see how long it took to get it delivered to me.
Although, It will be several months before I need it, I just wanted to have it so when I was ready to put the interior back together I wouldn't have to wait for it.

I been waiting for over 6 months for Bronco Hut to get the material in and they still don't have it. They get it from SMS thats the crazy part. Jared at BH says they have (SMS) to make the material before they (BH) can send it out to have the covers made. The guy at SMS said they make the covers exact like factory so we shall see. And I did ask him before I paid if all the material was in stock to make the covers, he said yes. Time frame=will see.

Since I don't have anything to compare the wood grain to it will be better than nothing.

Just an update:

Its' been 4 months since I ordered the Blue Ranger seat covers and rear quarter panels. Nothing from SMS on delivery time, only thing they tell me quarter panels will take the longest. I call BS on this....I know some of you told me the problems with SMS but, who else makes it? Non one...They have over $1300 of my money and no time frame in sight.

I ordered a complete interior for 1973 explorer from SMS; I was quoted 4 months lead time. They arrived in about 6 weeks.

The guy at Bronco Hut that I ordered the 77 Interior items from is No longer there.

I received the Front and Rear Ginger Explorer Vinyl in about 2 weeks only because they had it in stock. I am still waiting, 8-9 weeks later, for the Ginger Door and Rear Quarter Panels.

Distinctive Industries might be another source.

Received the hounds tooth interior yesterday for the seats. Glad I waited, they do quality work. No seam in the bottom of the rear seat like other vendors do to save material. Color looks fantastic . Can't wait to install interior.

Those look great. It’s nice to see some proper seams and stitching. It appears that the rear back has a provision for the original wires and hog rings at the bottom, as opposed to the zipper that many use.

I was extremely excited when I opened the box and saw the craftsmanship they put into the making of the covers.

anyone have photos of their rear quarter panels in blue HT? How long do those take, and are they hardboard backed?
