How do I install chrome window trim

I have two steel tops, one is in better shape, but the other has the chrome trim. Hoping to move the window trim from one to the other, but it has like an L shape piece on the back that fits into a groove around the window gasket. The top without the trim doesn't have the groove. Do I have to replace the gasket to install, or do i need to cut in a groove?

Thanks,
Josh

My OEM seals were in good shape. I took the glass out carefully by working from one corner until the glass was free. The I re-used the gaskets to install the glass so you can re-use your old ones.

Only trick is to use the gasket with the channel for the chrome trim so re-use them on the new top. Install the glass then the trim then install the assembly into the top. Fun times..

You need the grooved rubber. You can't install the chrome after the windows are in. The rubber and chrome has to be installed together.
