How do you get vent window glass out of frame?

Very carefully. Try to work a small pick or mini screwdriver into both of the ends of the frame. Try to get it behind the packing. Once it breaks loose, keep working a little at a time all the way around until she pops out. When using the pick or screwdriver be careful you don’t chip the edge of the glass. Also spray silicon or even a penetrating oil on the edges and in the channel of the frame; this will somewhat break it loose from the metal.

BFH!??? Automatic centerpunch!??

Oh, did you want to reuse the glass???

Sorry, don't know if there's an "approved" method. Only did this once, 30 years ago on a Mustang. Just pryed, real careful, at each end of the vent window frame. I think I just got lucky getting it out!

If your trying to get the glass itself out of the frame that holds it, the above answers are a good as it gets.

If your trying to take the vent window out of the door frame, you need to remove the roll up window glass, take the screws out of the forward edge of the window frame, remove the window felts, and then pull the vent window towards the back of the door. It will most likely require a bit of effort. The vent window will "pivot" on a part of the window track that goes into the door.

Clear as mud? Take a close look at it. I think it will become more clear.

...or you can park it over night somewhere and leave a few of your favorite cds in plain view and some a--hole will help you out by smashing the vent window to steal your cds to sell for $50 worth of meth. try it if everything else fails-it worked for me.

I took mine to a glass shop. They did it for a few bucks ($10 I think). They also reinstalled a new pivot arm and put the glass back in.

That's a good price! I think JBG sells the pivot arms for around $17.00.

Don't ask me how I know :'(

I've been wanting to do this also because I scored a pair of Ford OEM SS frames from the PO. The only problem is I need a good set of donor frames. No sense in changing the glass frames if the rest is all rusted.

if you have it out of the door its real easy. clamp the glass in a vise using wood blocks or small pcs. of ply on each side of the glass. then using a peice of flat steel gently tap against the frame in the direction of what would be the front of the car. work evenly along the frame and once it breaks loose it will come off easly. use the reverse procedure to install glass in the new frame, its just a press fit. i have done this on several windows and never broken one yet.
