If I wanted to have a shop re do my front and rear seats, how many yards of vinyl and how many yards of houndstooth would I need?

Thx!

Ask the shop doing the job. You will get a better answer. If we say 2 but the shop is fussy about getting the pattern just right they may want 3. Are you going to argue with them that the internet is right?

Fair point. I guess I’m looking for a baseline just to have some sort of idea

Have a discussion with the upholsterer about supplying the material. Often times they can get a better price for a better product than you can. You may only see the same price from them as what you might find but they may be willing to work on labor cost if they are making a couple bucks on the material as well.
They will have a good idea of the quality of the material and how well it will handle during the process. If you are trying to cut corners on price and show up with some tough to handle material this can be an issue.

I agree with .94 OR. Let the upholsterer supply it and then he is responsible for the finished product and any issues. If you pop a seam he can’t blame it on material supplied by you... My shop would only install material they supplied for that reason.

Full disclosure, I have a lead on some original fabric, and I want to make sure I have enough to do the job. I sure would hate to not have enough and blow all that money for no reason

I had a roll of original tan houndstooth which I trusted with an upholsterer. He promptly and throughly screwed it up beyond repair.....doing it his way instead of the right way. Fortunately I had enough for two sets.

That's fine, just let the person know what you are intending to do. I know this original material is hard to find in various colors.
